Convert DVR-MS to BMP Sequence
 |

The BMP file format, also known as bitmap image file or
Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) file format or simply a bitmap, is a raster graphics
image file format used to store bitmap digital images, independently of the display
device (such as a graphics adapter), especially on Microsoft Windows and OS/2
operating systems. The BMP is stored uncompressed; so it's a lossless image format,
but file size is very big.
DVR-MS to BMP Converter Software converts DVR-MS to BMP sequence files.
With the software, you could get every frame image of DVR-MS in BMP format. The
converter software also supports other output image formats such as JPG,
PNG, and TIFF. You can convert only a part of DVR-MS to BMP instead of the entire
file. And you can set how many frames per second to be extracted with the software.
The output BMP files look something like this.

The software also supports other formats and portable devices such as M4B (MPEG-4 audiobook), FLAC, PPM image sequence, Android Tablet, VCD, WebM (VP8), MP2,
etc. The software could convert DVD to iPad, 3G2 to VOC, WebM to Android Tablet, MP4 to MP2, MPEG to MOV, and so on.
DVR-MS to BMP Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible
with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.

What is DVR-MS?
DVR MS (Microsoft Digital Video Recording) files are created in Microsoft's
Windows Media Center. DVR-MS can also be converted to another format changing
only the container format (extracting the original MPEG-2 data without
any visual loss) using FFmpeg and VLC media player's transcoding wizard.
A simple registry tweak/hack also exists for allowing the Windows XP version
of Windows Movie Maker to natively import/edit DVR-MS files. They can also
played within Windows Media Center, which is included with Windows Vista
Home Premium and Ultimate editions. Zach Johnson, a developer for Microsoft
Windows XP, was the first to use the DVR-MS file extension. The format
uses MPEG-2 format for video encoding and MPEG-1 Layer II for audio encoding.
In Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, Microsoft has introduced
the *.DVR-MS (DVR) file format. Multiple data streams (audio and video)
are wrapped in an ASF container with the extension DVR-MS. Windows 7 includes
built-in support for converting non copy-protected WTV files to DVR-MS.
The Windows Media Center can be used to capture television programming,
which can be edited to delete commercials, adjust running time and compressed
to take up less storage space. Users can play a DVR-MS on Windows XP SP1
(Service Pack 1) or later editions. The format is designed primarily for
recording and playback of television programs recorded on a computer. The
DVR feature of Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows Vista and the Windows
7 version of Windows Media Center create files in this format. Microsoft's
Developer Network (MSDN) has an article with sample code and binaries demonstrating
how to use DVR-MS and convert them to WMV.
What is BMP?
The BMP file format, also known as bitmap image file or device independent
bitmap (DIB) file format or simply a bitmap, is a raster graphics image
file format used to store bitmap digital images, independently of the display
device (such as a graphics adapter), especially on Microsoft Windows and
OS/2 operating systems. The new extended headers can be used with some
GDI functions instead of the older ones, providing more functionality.
Since the GDI supports a function for loading bitmap files, typical Windows
applications use that functionality. One consequence of this is that for
such applications, the BMP formats that they support match the formats
supported by the Windows version being run. The BMP file format is capable
of storing 2D digital images of arbitrary width, height, and resolution,
both monochrome and color, in various color depths, and optionally with
data compression, alpha channels, and color profiles. BMP was designed
to contain bitmaps of different color resolutions so they could easily
be exchanged between different internal devices. Hence the name device
independent bitmaps, or DIB. As opposed to a device-dependent bitmap, the
DIB/BMP is an external bitmap where it is transported in metafiles. The
BMP file format, sometimes called bitmap or DIB file format (for device-independent
bitmap), is an image file format used to store bitmap digital images, especially
on Microsoft Windows and OS/2 operating systems. While most BMP files have
a relatively large file size due to lack of any compression (or generally
low-ratio run-length encoding on palletized images), many BMP files can
be considerably compressed with lossless data compression algorithms such
as ZIP because they contain redundant data. Some formats, such as RAR,
even include routines specifically targeted at efficient compression of
such data.
