Convert VOB to PNG Sequence

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a bitmapped image format that employs lossless data compression. PNG was created to improve upon and replace GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) as an image-file format not requiring a patent license. The initialism PNG can also be interpreted as a recursive initialism for "PNG's Not GIF".

VOB to PNG Converter Software converts VOB to PNG sequence files. The software captures every frame of VOB video clips, and then exports the frames to a serial of separated PNG files. You can also convert VOB to other image formats such as BMP, JPG, and TIFF. And, you can set output frame rate, and output image size with the software. The output PNG files look something like this.

The software is also a video and audio converter that supports common formats and portable devices such as VCD, ALAC (Apple Lossless), WMV, AVI, AIFF, CAF (Core Audio Format), VOC, etc. The software could convert VOB to M4R (iPhone ringtone), MOD to VCD, RM to FLAC, MPEG to MP2, MOV to Windows Phone, and so on.

VOB to PNG Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.

VOB to PNG Converter Software is compatible with Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2008, 2003, and 2000

What is VOB?
A Video Output Board (VOB) file is a subset of the standard MPEG-2 system stream. In other words, it's one way to watch video. VOBs contain excellent playback quality and typically take up lots of hard drive space. VOB files may be accompanied with IFO and BUP files. These files respectively have .ifo and .bup filename extensions. Basically VOB file is just a basic MPEG-2 system stream -- meaning that it is a file that contains multiplexed MPEG-2 video stream, audio streams (normally AC3 and DTS formats) and subtitle streams. Windows Media Player, VLC and Media Player Classic are all free applications that support playback for these files. These apps make it possible to view a disc's contents without loading it into a DVD player, and resemble each other closely in terms of media management. On the DVD, all the content for one title set is contiguous, but broken up into 1 GiB VOB files in the computer compatible file systems for the convenience of the various operating systems. Authentication of the disc allows the copying of individual VOB files without error, but the encryption keys will not be copied. If the copied undecrypted VOB files are opened in a player, they will request the keys from the DVD-ROM drive and will fail. Images, video and audio used in DVD menus are stored in VOB files. Many DVD-Video titles are encrypted with Content Scramble System (CSS). This is a data encryption and communications authentication method designed to prevent copying video and audio data directly from the DVD-Video discs. Decryption and authentication keys needed for playing back encrypted VOB files are stored in the normally inaccessible lead-in area of the DVD and are used only by CSS decryption software (e.g., in a DVD player or software player).

What is PNG?
PNG, an acronym for Portable Network Graphics, is a lossless image file format. It was designed as a superior replacement for the GIF format as the LZW data compression scheme used in GIF was patented by Unisys. PNG does not require a patent license. The most common general-purpose, lossless compression algorithm used with TIFF is Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW). This compression technique, also used in GIF, was covered by patents until 2003. There is a TIFF variant that uses the same compression algorithm as PNG uses, but it is not supported by many proprietary programs. TIFF also offers special-purpose lossless compression algorithms like CCITT Group IV, which can compress bilevel images (e.g., faxes or black-and-white text) better than PNG's compression algorithm. Another important feature of PNG is its compression algorithm. This non-patented lossless compression scheme uses a special method called deflate, which predicts the color of each pixel based on the colors of previous pixels, then filters the predicted color from the actual color. This filtering allows for easier compression of images, thus reducing a file size to up to 60%. Overall though PNG are widely supported, GIF is still the most popular. Images are compressed to small file sizes but this is a "lossless compression" meaning that all the image data is retained when you save or view a PNG file. PNG files are supported by modern web browsers. In the past only GIF and JPG files were supported on the web. The only limitation of PNG as compared to GIF is that it does not support animations. Images saved in the PNG image format potentially have a much higher color depth than their GIF counterparts - while GIF limits its palette to 256 colors, PNG can be true color. This allows for a much higher fidelity of image than GIFs are capable of, allowing for images on a par with their JPEG cousins.
