Convert AVI to 3GP
The article introduces how to convert converts AVI files to 3GP
with an easy-to-use AVI to 3GP Converter Software. The software could encode
3GP file with different codecs such as H.263, H.264, MPEG-4, AMR-NB, and AAC.
It's an ideal 3GP converter for your mobile phone. Besides 3GP, the software supports
popular formats such as JPG image sequence, M4V, SPX (Speex), OGG, 3GP, MKA, AU, etc.
The software could convert MKV to 3G2, RM to MPA, FLV to AMR, 3G2 to Windows Phone, FLV to MP3,
and so on.
AVI to 3GP Software supports batch conversion and, is compatible with Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is AVI?
AVI means Audio Video Interleave, is a multimedia container format introduced
by Microsoft in November 1992 as part of its Video for Windows technology.
Hacks are sometimes used to enable modern MPEG-4 features and subtitles,
however, this is the source of playback incompatibilities. So now there
are hundreds of avi files that look similar but are completely different
inside. Overhead for AVI files at the resolutions and frame rates normally
used to encode standard definition feature films is about 5 MB per hour
of video, the significance of which varies with the application. AVI files
can contain both audio and video data in a file container that allows synchronous
audio-with-video playback. Early AVI files were limited on choice of video
and audio codecs, quality, and resolution. For WAV audio files, Broadcast
Wave extensions were designed to standardize post-production metadata,
but an equivalent for AVI files has not emerged. The first sub-chunk is
identified by the "hdrl" tag. This sub-chunk is the file header
and contains metadata about the video, such as its width, height and frame
rate. Since the day of it was developerd there have appeared a lot of AVI
codec's created by both vendors and individuals. The Macintosh type is:
VfW AVI and codec are inseparable. Each version of Windows ships with a
video player software (called Windows Media Player), so that is not a problem.
The problem is called the codec. Like the DVD video format, AVI files support
multiple streaming audio and video, although these features are seldom
used. AVI was not intended to contain video using any compression technique
which requires access to future video frame data beyond the current frame.
Approaches exist to support modern video compression techniques (such as
MPEG-4) which rely on this function, although this is beyond the intent
of the original specification and may cause problems with playback software
which does not anticipate this use.
What is 3GP?
Audio and video container format developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership
Project (3GPP). 3GPP is worldwide standard for the creation, delivery and
playback of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless networks.
The 3GP file type is primarily associated with '3GPP'. 3GPP file format
was designed for GSM-based Phones and may have the filename extension ".3gp".
A 3GP file is always big-endian, storing and transferring the most significant
bytes first. Most 3G capable mobile phones support the playback and recording
of video in 3GP format (memory, maximum filesize for playback and recording,
and resolution limits exist and vary). Designed as a multimedia format
for transmitting audio and video files between 3G cell phones and over
the Internet; commonly used by mobile phones that support video capture.
3GPP is the new worldwide standards for the creation, delivery and playback
of multimedia over 3rd generation, high-speed wireless networks. The Macintosh
type is: 3GPP. Some newer/higher-end phones without 3G capabilities may
also playback and record in this format (again, with said limitations).
3GP is defined in the ETSI 3GPP technical specification. Audio imported
from CD onto a PlayStation 3 when it is set to encode to the MPEG-4 AAC
codec will copy onto USB devices in the 3GP format. The MP4 and the AVC
file format specifications described usage of MPEG-4 content in the ISO
base media file format. For the storage of MPEG-4 media specific information
in 3GP files, the 3GP specification refers to MP4 and the AVC file format,
which are also based on the ISO base media file format. It also contains
descriptions of image sizes and bitrate.
