Convert AVI to WebM
Total Video Audio Converter converts AVI files to WebM easily. The
software is a professional AVI to WebM Converter. You could
customize video size, frame rate, and bit rate with the converter so that the output
file size is controllable. Besides WebM, the converter converts AVI files
to OGG/OGM/OGV and H.264 that are HTML5 video formats either. Then, you can
easily add your video to your
website using HTML5.
The software is also an all-in-one video converter that converts any formats
to popular video formats such as WebM (VP8), SWF, MP2, DV, M4V, SPX (Speex), 3G2, etc. It could convert MOD to Xvid, MKV to WMV, RM to SWF, MOD to FLAC, M4V to 3GP,
and so on.
Total Video Audio Converter supports batch conversion and, is full compatible
with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP/2000.
What is AVI?
AVI means Audio Video Interleave, is a multimedia container format introduced
by Microsoft in November 1992 as part of its Video for Windows technology.
Most AVI files also use the file format extensions developed by the Matrox
OpenDML group in February 1996. These files are supported by Microsoft,
and are unofficially called "AVI 2.0". The third optional sub-chunk
is identified by the "idx1" tag which indexes the offsets of
the data chunks within the file. Some of the limitations of AVI in modern
use relate to a lack of standardization in this metadata (see Limitations
below). In addition, AVI files can embed Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP).
To further confuse the issue, many DivX-encoded files carry the .avi extension.
Video container or wrapper format created by Microsoft; stores video data
that may be encoded in a variety of codecs; typically uses less compression
than similar formats such as .MPEG and .MOV. One of the first terms a digital
video freshman gets to know is codec. In particular, the Indeo CODEC, popular
for video compression on PCs, has not been ported to Mac OS X. AVI does
not provide a standardized way to encode aspect ratio information, with
the result that players cannot select the right one automatically (though
it may be possible to do so manually). By way of the RIFF format, the audio-visual
data contained in the "movi" chunk can be encoded or decoded
by software called a codec, which is an abbreviation for (en)coder/decoder.
For WAV audio files, Broadcast Wave extensions were designed to standardize
post-production metadata, but an equivalent for AVI files has not emerged.
What is WebM?
WebM defines the file container structure, video and audio formats. WebM
files consist of video streams compressed with the VP8 video codec and
audio streams compressed with the Vorbis audio codec. The WebM file structure
is based on the Matroska container. Skype has implemented the VP8 codec
into the Skype 5.0 software. A key factor in the web's success is that
its core technologies such as HTML, HTTP, and TCP/IP are open for anyone
to implement and improve. With video being core to the web experience,
a high-quality, open video format choice is needed. WebM is 100% free,
and open-sourced under a BSD-style license. Google acquired ON2, the original
developer of VP8 technology. VP8 is now an open and free technology. The
team that created VP8 have been pioneers in video codec development for
over a decade. VP8 delivers high quality video while efficiently adapting
to the varying processing and bandwidth conditions found on today's broad
range of web-connected devices. A WebM file consists of VP8 video and Vorbis
audio streams, in a container based on a profile of Matroska. Also ST-Ericsson
and Huawei have hardware implementations in their computer chips. WebM
includes: VP8, a high-quality video codec we are releasing today under
a BSD-style, royalty-free license; Vorbis, an already open source and broadly
implemented audio codec; a container format based on a subset of the Matroska
media container. WebM was built for the web. By testing hundreds of thousands
of videos with widely varying characteristics, we found that the VP8 video
codec delivers high-quality video while efficiently adapting to varying
processing and bandwidth conditions across a broad range of devices.
