What is TS?
Video stream format used for storing video on a DVD; compresses video data using standard MEPG-2 (.MPEG) video compression. MPEG-2 is the format used in the DVD-Video format and is also part of the HD DVD specification, although it has trouble competing with more compressible formats such as VC-1 and H.264. Transport stream is an audio, video and data communications transmission protocol that is specified in MPEG-2 Part 1. It is contrasted with program stream, designed for more reliable media such as DVDs. TS files are nowadays very wide spread on the Internet as (usually split) recordings from HDTV broadcasts. It is also known as ITU-T Rec. H.222.0. Its design goal is to allow multiplexing of digital video and audio and to synchronize the output. The transport stream allows for multiplexing of the digital video and audio, which means the data is combined into a single synchronous transmission bit stream, for transmission over a variety of standard mediums such as DSL, IP, IPv, Ethernet, Cable TV networks, and more.

What is OGV?
The OGV and OGM file extensions correspond to the Ogg Vorbis Video File format. OGGs use specialized Ogg Vorbis encoding techniques to create high-resolution video files in small containers. Like all our multimedia technology it can be used to distribute film and video online and on disc without the licensing and royalty fees or vendor lock-in associated with other formats. OGV files are often used for playing webpage video content using the HTML5 <video> tag. However, they are generally referenced in the HTML source code using the ".ogg" extension, even though the files contain video content. Videos encoded with any version of the libtheora since the alpha3 will be compatible with any future player. Theora supports intra-coded frames and forward-predictive frames, but not bi-predictive frames which are found in H.264 and VC-1. Theora is an open and royalty-free lossy video compression technology being developed by the Xiph.Org Foundation as part of their Ogg project. Based upon On2 Technologies' VP3 codec, Theora competes with MPEG-4, WMV, and similar low-bitrate video compression schemes. Theora video streams can be stored in any suitable container format. Most commonly it is found in the Ogg container with Vorbis or FLAC audio streams which provides a completely open, royalty-free multimedia format. It can also be used with the Matroska container. The Theora reference implementation libtheora spent several years in alpha and beta status. The first alpha version was released on 2002-09-25. The first beta version was released on 22 September 2007. The first stable release of libtheora was made in November 2008. Work then focused on improving the codec performance in the "Thusnelda" branch, which was released as version 1.1 in September 2009 as the second stable libtheora release. This release brought some technical improvements and new features, e.g. the new rate control module and the new two-pass rate control.
