through a digital video recorder. Windows 7 includes built-in support for

Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or later Windows operating systems, hotfix
810243 for Windows XP RTM (which adds DVR-MS support to DirectShow), and
on Windows Mobile 6. Both the audio and video components of DVR-MS files
rely on MPEG codecs, but unlike MPEG files, DVR-MS files are not widely
recognized in computer programs. Users can play a DVR-MS on Windows XP
SP1 (Service Pack 1) or later editions. When you use Media Center to capture
television footage, the video files are saved in the DVR MS format. The
Media Center Edition of Windows XP introduced the DVR-MS file with PVR
(Personal Video Recorder) capabilities, such as pausing live television
programs, time-shifting, and simultaneous recording and playback.
What is PNG?
PNG is a popular digital image format whose compression algorithm does
not degrade the quality of the file. PNG, like GIF, is capable of transparency,
so it is used frequently in web design--though its popularity has not reached
that of the prolific GIF format. The PNG format was introduced in 1994,
after the GIF and JPEG formats had already been around for several years.
Therefore, PNG includes many of the benefits of both formats. For example,
PNG images use lossless compression like GIF files, so they do not have
any blurring or other artifacts that may appear in JPEG images. The PNG
format also supports 24-bit color like the JPEG format, so a PNG image
may include over 16 million colors. This is a significant difference between
GIF and PNG, since GIF images can include a maximum of 256 colors. PNG
files are supported by modern web browsers. In the past only GIF and JPG
files were supported on the web. PNG offers a variety of transparency options.
With truecolor and grayscale images either a single pixel value can be
declared as transparent or an alpha channel can be added (enabling any
percentage of partial transparency to be used). For paletted images, alpha
values can be added to palette entries. The number of such values stored
may be less than the total number of palette entries, in which case the
remaining entries are considered fully opaque. PNG offers an optional 2-dimensional,
7-pass interlacing scheme-the Adam7 algorithm. This is more sophisticated
than GIF's 1-dimensional, 4-pass scheme, and allows a clearer low-resolution
image to be visible earlier in the transfer, particularly if interpolation
algorithms such as bicubic interpolation are used. However, the 7-pass
scheme tends to reduce the data's compressibility more than simpler schemes.
